Covid-19 Lockdown Emergency
Lockdown Food Support
The 2020 global pandemic, which caused fear, anxiety, and despair for many, pushed the boundaries of what was possible to be called adversity. Each day, the Covid-19 virus cases grew exponentially and citizens’ health declined. Rural areas, especially those with poor or no access to health care and who have limited to no medical coverage, are particularly vulnerable. As hospitals became overcrowded, the demand for health care professionals increased dramatically. Smiles began to fade as many lost their lives due to the virus. As the doors were slammed on every corner, in every city, and across the country, connections began to break down. As part of the lockdown protocol, planes and other modes of transport were also restricted. This led to a decrease in food supply. Families were left with less food and less food storage. Step to Humanity Association wanted to change this!

The foundation of this organization is based on the principles and assistance to those in need. Since our inception seven years ago, we have continued to strive towards ending these struggles. Since the beginning, our top priority has been to help people in developing countries like Nigeria, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan. Step to humanity restored smiles to those who were beginning to lose their sparkle.
The lockdown began in South Asia, with India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh experiencing difficulties getting groceries because of closing stores. This had a profound impact on low-income families. People who worked as day laborers or rickshaw pullers and small-business owners were affected. They were not able to make any money from their work because everything was being shut down. It was difficult to predict when the lockdown would end during those frightening times.

Step to Humanity Association recognized the devastating effects of the lockdown on these families and decided to begin a program to deliver food to them. All non perishable foods such as rice, lentils and oil were packed in enough quantities to last at least two weeks for each family. Volunteers bought the food, packaged it and set up distribution points. Some families needed additional assistance so volunteers traveled to many homes to hand out the food personally. This humanitarian aid project provided support to over a thousand families in Bangladesh, Pakistan, and India.
It was a joy to work on this heartwarming project for these families. It was a rewarding experience to see the families feel relieved that they no longer had to worry about food. We were able to provide the necessary support and assistance to these families through the lockdown. We are grateful to all our donors, volunteers, and outstanding supporters who made this possible. This allows Step to Humanity to thrive and spread its colors across the globe. This will allow us to continue providing basic human right!
