The Step to Humanity Association (STH) is formed to reduce poverty and improve livelihoods of the poor people in developing countries through the following three activities:
(a) Employment related skills training:
STH will contribute to relieve poverty by organizing training courses for unemployed youths to provide them with employment related hands-on skills and techniques such as tailoring, computer application, electrical maintenance, etc. based on market demands of the countries in question. STH will provide a reasonable allowance for the beneficiaries to compensate their time and income as well as the training-related cost like trainer or facilitator, training materials, tuition fees, etc. and beneficiaries will not be charged any fees at all for these activities. By providing employment related skills training, STH is expecting to see a socio economic change for the unemployed youth sector of the community at this very important stage of their lives. It will create more job opportunities, reduce unemployment rate, and increase household income, which will ultimately relieve poverty.
(b) Providing educational expenses to underprivileged students at secondary and post secondary levels:
STH will contribute in relieving poverty by providing educational expenses including scholarships, awards, tuition fees, and educational supplies to secondary and post secondary underprivileged students in developing countries. STH will implement this activity in collaboration with local volunteers from the same community or any local organization who will work on a completely volunteering basis. Local volunteer(s) or local organization will work as a local representative who will select beneficiaries based on criteria set out (underprivileged, meritorious, secondary and post secondary students) by STH, and monitor the project.
(c) Providing sanitation and medical supplies/services for the poor people:
STH will contribute to relieve poverty by providing sanitation and medical supplies/services to poor people in developing countries. Sanitation support includes tubewell for clean water supply and safe toilet to improve hygiene and to prevent diseases. STH will implement this activity in collaboration with local volunteers from the same community or any local organization who will work on a completely volunteer capacity.
